DKI is proud to have been part of the breathtaking restoration of the Greek and Roman Wings of this world famous institution. Two tiers of cornice and 16 foot columns in the mottled surface color were created to match limestone imported from Italy used for adjacent work. These architectural elements hold their own while sharing the space with some of antiquities’ most treasured artifacts.

This project re-imagines a terra cotta cornice that was removed and lost over 50 years ago. Working from sparse historical photographs and Architect’s design speculation, a showpiece cornice was created. It’s multiple high-key colors call attention to the building’s focal position in the community, yet retaining a seamless integration into the existing façade.

This project is a dual façade condominium facility in historic SoHo. Large GFRC elements were designed to simulate the cast stone facades which define the architectural style of this neighborhood.

The façade of this building utilizes DKI’s breakthrough GFRC thin clad system. This new skin interfaces with existing wall conditions projecting out a mere 1.5 inches past the original building line. This enables an elegant efficient restoration.

This enormous project entailed the complete replacements of pre-existing terra cotta elements throughout Gothic facades on the historic NY City College’s upper Manhattan campus. Thousands of stones were cast and reintegrated into an existing schist façade. Particularly notable were the many lively grotesques incorporated into the facades, making this a satisfying sculptural challenge for DKI artisans.

This multi-block ConEd power plant is cloaked with a continuous faux-brownstone façade to better integrate the facility into the existing community. GFRC elements applied to monolithic precast façade elements (by Core Slab) suggest classic turn of the century New York.
